IKEA WARDROBE ORGANIZATION

Toen we in ons appartement kwamen wonen, was het aantal kamers iets waar ik meteen enthousiast over werd. Ik woon niet in een bruisende stad. Het hoogtepunt van het jaar is hier de jaarlijkse rommelmarkt, maar een enorm voordeel aan het wonen in een zogenaamd boerengat, is het feit dat je er veel huis voor je geld krijgt. Ik wist meteen dat ik van de kamer naast onze slaapkamer een dressing wilde maken. Een absolute meisjesdroom! 

When we found our apartment, one of the things I was most excited about, was the amount of rooms. I don't live in a bustling city. The biggest event happening here is our yearly car boot sale, but a great, great advantage of living in a god forgotten tiny village, is the fact that you can get A LOT of house for your money. I immediately knew that I wanted to turn the spare bedroom next to our master bedroom into a walk-in wardrobe. A girl's dream, right? 

Dat ik voor de Pax-kasten van Ikea zou gaan wist ik al maanden. Dat zijn nu eenmaal de kasten die ik overal zag voorbijkomen en Pinterestwaardig zijn ze zeker. Ikea is de koning van de opbergcombinaties en dat zie je zo terug in de Pax-serie. 

I knew months in advance that I wanted to go for the Ikea Pax-series. Those closets are all over the internet and they definitely are very Pinterest-worthy. Ikea is the king of organizing solutions, and the Pax-series is a great example of that. 

Accessoires zoals juwelen, riemen, zonnebrillen en andere prulletjes kan ik kwijt in deze uittrekbare planken met onderverdeling. De plank heeft een soft-close-systeem, waardoor hij altijd zachtjes dichtschuift. Mijn wat delicatere juweeltjes bewaar ik in de 'Stackers' juwelendoos. Wat mij betreft de ideale juwelendoos voor als je je collectie graag uitbreidt. Je kan van de Stackers-juwelendozen telkens 'etages' bijkopen, om zo wat extra plaats te creëren. 

Accessories like jewelry, belts and sunglasses are all neatly stored away in these pull-out shelves. All shelves and drawers have got a soft close system, which is great if you -like me- like to be a little enthusiastic when closing your drawers. 

I keep my more delicate jewelry in my Stackers jewelry box. Stackers make beautiful extendable jewelry boxes. I got my first 'part' as a Christmas gift a few years ago, and I have been adding to it every year since then. 

Onze dressing heeft aan één kant schuine muren, waar de Pax-kasten helaas niet op voorzien zijn. Daarvoor zochten en vonden we dus andere oplossingen. De Kallax-serie past in bijna elke kamer. Ik heb even geteld en kwam tot de conclusie dat wij niet minder dan 11 Kallax-kasten in ons appartement hebben staan. Badkamer, dressing, kantoor... Kallax past overal. In onze dressing gebruik ik ze vooral voor mijn truien. In de zwarte manden onderaan bewaar ik mijn out-of-season truien en sjaals. 

Our dressing room has got a sloped ceiling on one side, which is not something the Pax-closets are made for. Luckily, we found some other Ikea-products to solve that problem. The Kallas-series can be used in basically every single room. I counted ours and came to the conclusion that we own no less than 11 Kallax-units. Bathroom, bedroom, office, hall... You can really put it anywhere. In our wardrobe, I use the Kallax-shelves to store my jumpers. The boxes on the bottom have got my out-of-season jumpers and scarves in them. 

Ik benutte letterlijk elk hoekje van de kasten door er nog enkele (antieke) hoedenstandaarden bovenop te zetten en haakjes aan de zijkant te bevestigen. 

I used literally every nook and cranny of the Kallax by putting some (antique) hat stands on top of it and attaching command hooks to the side. 

Mijn jassen en blazers hangen op een simpel kledingrek. De leuke kinderkapstok die ernaast staat, vond ik in de kringloopwinkel. Ik wist meteen dat het de perfecte oplossing kon zijn voor mijn alsmaar groeiende handtassencollectie. De kapstok is een stuk korter dan de 'gewone' kapstokken die ik overal zag, waardoor hij perfect onder ons schuine dak past. 

My coats and wintery blazers are on an adjustable clothing rail, which was also by Ikea (not sponsored, just genuine enthusiasm). I found this adorable children's coat rack at our local thrift shop, and immediately knew it would be the perfect storage solution for my smaller handbags. Because it's a lot shorter than your usual coat rack, it perfectly fits underneath our ceiling. It also holds a TON of handbags. Very happy with that one! 

Ziezo! Tot zover mijn gedeelte van onze dressing. Het is nog niet mijn droom-'walk in closet' - die heeft namelijk hogere plafonds, meer licht en een net wat meer spectaculaire inhoud- maar ik ben zo blij dat ik mijn eigen plekje heb om 's ochtends toch dat 'shoppen in je eigen kast'-gevoel te krijgen.

There you go! That's my wardrobe. It's not yet my 'dream closet' - that one is much bigger and filled with much fancier things- but I'm so happy to have my own little space to have that 'shop your own closet'-experience.
